Dr. Timothy Stephens is an American family physician. He is the Honorary Chair of the General Practice Department of Haikou People’s Hospital, where he has serves as a foreign expert since 2013. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biology with Honors from Washington University in St. Louis in 2001. He completed his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) with Honors at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2005. He graduated from the Tufts University Family Medicine Residency program in 2008, where he served as Chief Resident. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and holds an active medical license in Massachusetts since 2008. He is a member of AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians) and STFM (Society of Teachers of Family Medicine). He has received multiple honors including the AAFP Pfizer National Award for Teacher Development in 2011, the Hainan Provincial Government Coconut Friendship Award in 2014 and 2017, and the Chinese Medical Doctors Association National Award for Teaching Excellence in General Practice in 2019. His research focuses include medical education, mental health, and primary care workforce issues.
